Rocket & Tigerli
Rocket and Tigerli in Winterthur: the design brief for the world's tallest wooden residential tower has been concluded. The Rocket building will house a series of flats, while the Tigerli will house student and public housing as well as part of the Radisson RED hotel.

The redevelopment of the Lokstadt site in Winterthur has taken another important step. In February of this year, the planning mandate for the Rocket and Tigerli building complex was completed. At 100 metres, the Rocket Tower is currently the world's tallest privately owned wooden building in the planning stage.

The design by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, Copenhagen, and Cometti Truffer Hodel Architects, Lucerne, won out over proposals from eight prestigious teams. The idea was convincing due to its varied qualities and perfectly completes the development of the site. The urban planning approach is based on the construction of several independent buildings along the outer side of the area.

The Rocket Tower, with a total height of 100 metres, will be located on the most famous public square in the Lokstadt, the Dialogplatz. It will house a large number of flats, while the Tigerli Tower will house student flats, public housing and part of the Radisson RED hotel.

The Rocket and Tigerli building complex is to be planned and completed by 2026. This completes the implementation of the public development plan for the Sulzer Werk 1 site, approved by the people of Winterthur in 2015.
